Richard’s Love

A playful blend of masks and shadow puppetry.

In Richard’s Love, Bric a Brac Productions takes you into a magical and muddled world to tell the tale of shop girl Sarah, her unlikely hero Richard and her tricky Mother, who is determined to stand in the way of their love.

This is a tale of love, hope, isolation and betrayal in a world where mermaids can be seduced out of the sea and gnomes might be called upon to leave the garden…

Bric a Brac combines strong physicality and striking imagery. In Richard’s Love intricate shadow puppetry and quirky mask characters are weaved together with a strange and beautiful soundtrack and some impressively fast costume changes!

“Along with my programme I receive a sheet of paper, asking me to ‘jot down my thoughts about the show and help it continue to grow’. In order to answer question one, ‘what I liked about Richard’s Love and what I thought worked well,’ I may well need another piece of paper. Question two… asked me what I didn’t like… It’s a small production which delivers big ideas in an intimate space, so even though I’m rarely lost for words, question two will just have to remain unanswered.”
